Dennis Christie has been my friend for over 20 years, and I’ve seen firsthand how hard he’s worked to build a successful career as a textbook reseller. But when COVID hit, everything changed. With schools closing, Dennis’s livelihood and career disappeared almost overnight, leaving him facing an uncertain future. He is 82-years old, so starting something new is not an option.
Since then, Dennis has been doing his best to get back on his feet, but the challenges have been overwhelming. On top of losing his steady income, Dennis has been struggling with severe depression that has, at times, left him not seeing a reason to go on. Traditional medications haven’t helped, and for the past five years, Dennis has been seeking Ketamine treatment, which could make a significant difference in his recovery. Unfortunately, his insurance provider, Kaiser Permanente, has repeatedly denied coverage. The Ketamine treatment would be done in Pasadena, with a doctor who comes highly recommended by a friend who had the same treatment a few years ago and experienced success.
The loss of income has made it difficult for Dennis to cover basic living expenses and utilities, let alone afford the treatment he needs. As someone who has always been there for others, Dennis now finds himself in need of a helping hand. We’re reaching out to our community and friends because we know how much your support can make a difference. Any help you can give will be deeply appreciated as Dennis works to rebuild and move forward. Thank you so much for reading this and for your kindness and generosity.
