Support Dennis & Diana Boxx

On March 7th 2024 at around 8:39 a.m my parents (Dennis & Diana) home caught on fire.

Brock and I had arrived around 8:25 a.m to help my mom get ready for the day. Brock and I had just got her out of bed and sitting up to get ready for the day. Brock and I stepped out of her room. While she was in her room alone Brock and I heard my mom screaming at my uncle who was outside on the front porch.

Brock and I heard what sounded like knocking on the wall. We both went outside to see what my uncle was doing, as we walked down to the end of the handicapped ramp we saw flames climbing up the wall on my parents house & patio and burning the deck furniture, I tried to move a piece of furniture that was on fire, Brock yelled to back away. It was now fully engulfed!

Brock ran to get the garden hose, I ran inside to tell my Dad to get out of the house, I then ran into my mom's room, The fire had broken through her window and was climbing up the curtains and reaching for her cart that holds her genealogy paperwork. I reached across to move the cart away from the fire, I inhaled quite a bit of smoke, I backed away and then pulled my mom out of the room and shut her bedroom door ( she can't walk on her own) and into the foyer, where I then had her stand. My mom then fell to the floor.

At this time Brock was in the foyer, we quickly got her hoyer sling under her. Miraculously 2 City of Black Diamond public works crew, Justin & Neil arrived at the house and saw Brock and I trying to move my mom out of the house.

Another Angel came along and helped, (still not sure who that Angel was) without their help I am not sure Brock and I could have gotten my mom safely away from the house.

I remember yelling that there were people downstairs. Someone ran downstairs to get everyone out. My niece, Lauryn was down stairs with two of her kiddos, Lacey & Elly and they were already evacuating.

My nephew Michael & his wife Lauryn & family (3 kiddos) had just moved into my parent's basement last summer from New Jersey where my nephew was stationed with the Navy.

Lauryn and the 2 kids got out safely. Michael was in Enumclaw taking their son to school. Everyone is safe.

My Dad, Dennis has burns on his hand, arm face & ear.

My mom Diana has 2 broken toes

My uncle is at Harborview burn center for his arm.

The damage to their is pretty extensive. My mom's room is a total loss. The fire went, not only in her room, but up into the attic where it caused more damage. The rest of the house is damaged by heavy smoke.

Lauryn & Michael have a gofundme account set up. They have been gracious in helping purchase medical supplies for my dad's wounds. Michael & Lauryn need their gofundme for all their expenses now. Insurance covers their items, but not housing & utilities.

My parents had not planned on setting up a GoFundMe account. As the week has gone by friends, community members & family want to help my parents out financially with their expenses as they navigate through this process.

My parents have always been the first to give in any emergency situation for family or friends and never asking for anything in return.
