Hello, I am setting up this GoFundMe for my sister, Denise Y. Abrams. Denise had a stroke on July 11th. Upon entering the hospital, a bleeding mass was found on her brain. She had surgery to remove the mass on July 18th. The doctors wanted to discharge her into a rehab facility to ensure she would receive 24-hour care and access to the therapy needed to aid her recovery. Unfortunately, Denise’s Medicare insurer denied the request. I won’t get political, but how does rehab and 24-hour care for a survivor of brain surgery get denied? Denise’s daughters have found an assisted living facility that will allow her to live there for a month and receive the care and therapy she needs to recover, but it will need to be paid out of pocket without insurance.

If you feel it in your heart and you are able to contribute to aiding in Denise’s recovery, her family would greatly appreciate it. Denise has a long road to recovery and these next few weeks are imperative to the process. Her physical abilities are recovering as expected. Her cognitive abilities, including her short-term memory, have been more challenging.
