My name is Denise, and I’m reaching out because my family and I are facing a difficult time. In 2022, I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor that had been undetected for 14 years. The diagnosis turned my world upside down. I was put out of work and onto disability in September, and soon after, I underwent radiation. What doctors thought would be a routine case because of my age quickly became worst case scenario. The after-effects have been severe, leaving me unable to work and struggling with daily life.

To make things even harder, my disability payments stopped at the beginning of December, and I haven’t received any support since. I’m doing everything I can to hold things together for my kids. I’m still the PTA president and serve on the board for their sports teams, fundraising and helping out wherever I can. I want to make sure my children’s needs and dreams aren’t affected by what I’m going through.

On top of my own medical bills, I’m still paying off a large bill from when my daughter was in the PICU for a week. I’ve always been afraid to ask for help, but now I realize how much we need it.
