Support Denise's Recovery and Safety

Hello, my name is Denise Benavides, and on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, my brother-in-law viciously attacked me. He sadly has untreated mental health issues that have gone undiagnosed for years. For years, he has accused me of trying to hurt him, and all I have done is try to help him.

On Tuesday, he came into the office where I was working part-time, started yelling at me, and proceeded to attack his sister. I instantly did everything to get him off of her, and he turned his anger towards me. He viciously knocked me down, got behind me, and started to scratch my eyes out of their sockets. It was horrible and so scary. We did call the police, and he is currently in jail, but I fear he will be bonded out at any moment. I also got a protective order. I fear for my life if he gets out; he will come after me. He knows where I work and where I live. I cannot work due to trauma to my eyes. The doctors have told me that I need medical attention to be able to heal my eyes. Driving isn't even an option right now. And my trauma is horrible; I feel like at any moment he will get out and kill me. It's horrible.

I am sadly unable to pay my bills because i can't work and I'm scared to lose my house.
