Support Denise's Fight Against Breast Cancer

My name is Victoria Giglia, and I am the daughter of Denise Giglia who this GoFundMe has been created for. I am creating this fundraiser in hopes of helping my mom pay for her Breast Cancer treatments.

I know that life and what comes with it is a struggle for most people, and that has been no different for my family this past year. Our lives, as the lives of many, were deeply affected by the Covid epidemic. Rewinding back to end of 2020 my father was hospitalized and put on a ventilator and given very little time to live by healthcare professionals, thankfully after almost 100 days in the hospital (including WEEKS on a ventilator) he was released and came home. While we were so fortunate to have our loved one back home with us that doesn’t mean it was happy ever after. Surviving Covid the way that he did came with a never-ending list of new health complications, complications that eventually led to us losing him this past November (2023). We were SO grateful for the extra few years with him that we were given. Unfortunately losing him meant financial hardship on my family, especially my mom. She was no longer able to afford bills going from a two-income household to a single income household. We received no life insurance and no benefits after my father’s passing, not only making it a difficult time emotionally but financially.

Fast forwarding 6 months from then to May of this year (2024), when we receive the news that my mom has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. This news immediately sent my sister and I back to November, coping with the loss of our father and now the fear of losing our only remaining parent, our mom.

Our mom is the best mom out there. She has taught us so much growing up and instilling so many passions and interests ranging from science (she herself has her master’s degree in chemistry!) to baking and crocheting and every single crafty thing you could think of. She’s a mama bear and will protect us no matter what, always willing to go to bat (or battle). She’s kind and caring and loving, everything a mom is. She means the absolute WORLD to my sister and I… And that’s why I’ve created this fundraiser. Because I want to change the roles. It’s MY turn to go to bat for her and to fight for her and what she needs and deserves…

The money we raise through this fundraiser will go to helping her pay for her cancer treatments as her insurance won’t cover it all, including radiation, medications, etc. as well as help pay other bills. Please, if you are so kind and fortunate enough to be able to donate, it would mean the world to me and my family. Please help us get her better and beat cancer!

Unfortunately I’ve had to edit our goal amount as I learned my mom’s house needs a new roof put on it as well. Thank you everyone for your kindness during this time, we are grateful beyond measure ❤️
