Hello, my name is Denise Worsham. I'm the founder and owner of Worsham Cats Rescue. I rescue cats and kittens in need of help while focusing on Trap-Neuter-Return feral and community cats. I have a small network of wonderful fosters that helps with the kittens. I wouldn't be able to adopt out these wonderful voiceless kitties without their help. Before these kitties can be adopted they must first be vetted by the clinic. The Spay costs $80. Neuter is $60 vaccines are $15 and to ensure the kitty is not positive for fiv/felv they must be tested which is $25. I also have the kitties microchipped for an insertion cost of $5. I pay $39.90 for 10 microchips and a little over $100 for a tray of 25 distemper vaccines which each kitty gets two of before they are adopted. Then the cost of flea medications along with dewormers is another cost in which i usually pay out of pocket for. My only check is Social Security disability. Then there are the medical costs for the sick that needs the attention from a vet. One emergency vet visit has cost as high as $1200 and as low as $150 depending on the severity of the kitties condition. As far as TNR work, I have received small donations towards my expenses like gas but I'm never paid for the use of my equipment, food the electricity cost to keep these kitties warm after surgery. I have to run an electric heater in shed for these cats to be comfortable while on the mend. I have TNR'd as many as 24 cats on one property and received only a hand wave when finished. I understand we are all having a hard time competing with prices at the market and for fuel amongst other things. I'm feeling that crunch too. I hate asking for donations but I'm at the end of my finances to be able to help stamp out unwanted kitten births so Im turning towards the public to help if you can.
