Support Denise Gonzalez's Fight for Recovery

Denise Gonzalez is a talented, intelligent, and compassionate 28-year-old who is now fighting for her life. On June 17, 2025, she left Houston, Texas, where she lives, to take a vacation to Sedona, Arizona. While there, she was in a horrifying ATV accident, where her left hand was severed and the bones in her left wrist and forearm were crushed. She was life-flighted to a Sedona hospital. Once she was stabilized enough from blood loss, the doctors chose to fly her to a trauma center in Phoenix to try and reattach her hand. Most patients in this situation would not have received this option, but because of her age, they wanted to try.

While in Phoenix, she lost her left thumb, but after several surgeries and treatments, it was looking like the rest of her left hand might be saved. When color began to return to her hand and she was able to move 2 fingers, she was transferred to yet another Arizona hospital on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, to receive hyperbaric treatment for her hand.

Sometime Thursday night, however, she began to show signs of infection. When her vitals began to drop, she was once again fighting for her life.

On Friday afternoon, doctors were finally able to stabilize her enough to run the necessary tests to locate the cause of her sudden illness. It was indeed her hand that was the source of infection, and they were forced to amputate to save her life.

Denise’s recovery will be long. It will be difficult. But she is a precious, incredible young woman, who will find her strength, and we can help. That this has happened has broken the hearts of all who love her. While we cannot be there physically in Arizona for each step of her recovery, we can still offer our support from home.
