Support Denise After Cliff's Tragic Loss

On Wednesday, April 23rd, Clifford “Cliff” Souza didn’t return home to Gualala, California after a day trip to Martinez. Cliff had made this familiar drive many times over the years—visiting his old neighborhood to do his banking, get his haircut, and reconnect with longtime friends. It was part of a cherished routine, and he was always home by 6:00 p.m. for dinner.

When Cliff didn’t come home that evening, his wife of 52 years, Denise, hoped he might have decided to stay overnight in Martinez, though it was unlike him not to call. By the next day, worry had set in, and a search began with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.

Tragically, on Saturday, April 26th, Cliff was found in the Russian River by his nephew Phillip and brother-in-law Haddon. In the days leading up to this, the entire family came together, forming a search party and combing the coastline in hopes of finding him safe. His loss is heartbreaking for everyone who knew him, and the impact is felt deeply by his family, friends, and community.

Cliff was a kind and steady presence—a loving husband, family man, and friend to many. His absence leaves a tremendous void, especially for Denise, who is now facing profound grief.
