I am seeking support for gender-affirming care as an essential step in my transition and overall well-being. This includes a range of medical, surgical, and legal procedures that will help me live more safely, authentically, and in alignment with who I am.

My journey to this point has not been easy. I am a Jamaican-born asylum seeker and naturalized U.S. citizen who has spent years navigating systems in search of safety and stability. Along the way, I have survived significant violence and medical hardship, and I am no stranger to surgery or long-term recovery. This time, however, I am choosing care that is affirming rather than reactive—care that supports my life, not only my survival.

Gender-affirming care is medically recognized and widely supported as life-saving, particularly for mental health outcomes and quality of life.

The procedures I am seeking include consultations, hormone-related care and labs, psychiatric evaluation, gender reassignment surgery, facial feminization surgery, vocal feminization surgery, tracheal shave, breast augmentation, body contouring, and electrolysis. This also includes necessary legal expenses such as name and gender marker changes and document updates.

The funds raised will go directly toward medical costs, recovery support, and associated legal and logistical expenses. These costs are significant and often not fully covered, making community support essential.

More than anything, this fund is about safety, wholeness, and the ability to move through the world without constant fear or dysphoria. It is about becoming fully myself.
