Hello, my name is DeMond, and I never imagined I would be in a position where I had to ask for help like this.

Recently, I suffered an unexpected stroke that has completely changed my life. Before this happened, I worked with my hands every day in home maintenance, electrical work, plumbing, and general construction—work I’ve done for over 20 years. I took pride in being reliable, hardworking, and able to provide for myself through honest labor.

The stroke has left me temporarily unable to work. Simple daily tasks now take more effort, and my focus has shifted from earning a living to recovery, rehabilitation, and preventing another stroke. While I am grateful to be alive, the financial impact has been overwhelming. Bills don’t stop, and the loss of income has created a difficult and stressful situation during a time when I should be focused on healing.

I also want to take a moment to raise awareness about stroke recognition. Knowing the warning signs can save a life. Remember F.A.S.T.:

Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, and Time to call 911. Acting quickly can make a critical difference, and I hope my experience encourages others to take symptoms seriously.
