Support Delilah and Family

Donation protected
As many of you know, our dear friend, Delilah, has been courageously battling stage 4 colon cancer for many years. She is truly one of the strongest, most selfless people, and has fought and continues to fight with unimaginable grace.

For those of you who don’t know Delilah, her story began almost 18 years ago: She was a healthy 31-year-old wife and mother to a 3-year-old son when she was given the unimaginable diagnosis of stage 4 colon cancer. She was also in the process of coming to the US in hopes of providing her family with a better life. At the time of diagnosis, the cancer had already spread to her liver and lungs. From the time she was diagnosed, she has battled relentlessly-- She has had a partial liver resection, colon resection, multiple lung resections, chemo, radiation, immunotherapy, and many other invasive procedures to treat both the cancer and the damage done to her body from the cancer treatments, themselves.

And somehow, despite all of this, and despite incredible odds, Delilah has managed to not only survive, but to get up every morning and go to work with a positive, uplifting attitude and a smile on her face. To be a hard-working and compassionate nurse. To be a caring friend. To be a devoted wife to Eduardo. To raise an incredible, caring, and intelligent son, Sammy, who, at the age of 20, is a hard-working college student who has aspirations of becoming a doctor himself because he has witnessed his mother’s fight first-hand.

Earlier this month, Delilah began experiencing worsening shortness of breath beyond her baseline, and made the decision to go to the ER, where she was given supplemental oxygen and was found to have pneumonia. Over the next two days in the hospital, she continued to struggle with labored breathing, and eventually the decision was made to transfer her to the Medical ICU and insert a breathing tube to better oxygenate her lungs and to give her body a chance to rest and recover. Delilah has since remained in the Medical ICU for the past two-and-a-half weeks, and has continued to fight one battle after another, with her husband, Eduardo, a devoted fixture at her bedside.

With Eduardo taking time off of work to be by Delilah’s side, and with Delilah as the main breadwinner of the family, the Ocampos are under a huge financial strain. Delilah is so many things to so many people. Her kindness, generosity, grace, and wisdom have had such an impact on countless individuals, and it’s truly a testament to her beautiful one-of-a-kind soul. With all that she has done for us, it is now our chance to lift Delilah up and show our love and continued support to her and her family in any way that we can. All donations will be given to Eduardo to help with mounting medical bills, loss of wages, and anything the family needs. Prayers and any amount, big or small, are greatly appreciated.
