DeliaDelia! The Flat-Chested Witch! is an allegorical, absurd, and unhinged clown hour of self-discovery by Amando Houser, a trans masculine comedian/performer based in Brooklyn NY. This debut solo show is directed by Kedian Keohan and will premiere at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival August 1-25, 2024.
Inspired by the “witch hunt” on trans rights in the United States, DeliaDelia is a witch from the swamps who happens to be as nasty on the eyes as she is on the basketball court. Cursed to find a husband by the stroke of midnight, will she find true love or be turned into a serpent with no genitalia?
DeliaDelia! is entirely self-produced. Through January 2024, I was funding my practice and studies through the help of Creative Rebuild NY grant. Since then, I have been working 3 part-time jobs and picking up as many freelance acting opportunities as I can to get this off the ground as well as pay for my livelihood. Edinburgh Fringe is a feat of fees, and I realize I can’t do it alone, so I’m asking for help from my community. I am almost over the hump but just need a little more support. Anything you can do to help or even share would mean a lot to me and the people who are working on this!
All the money donated will go to helping me pay:
My director/rehearsals
Technical support
Cover venue rental for the 23 shows I’ll be performing
Cover the apartment room rental for the month
Cover Edinburgh Fringe advertising using Out Of Hand UK posters and fliers
Plane to and from the U.K.
Additional prop materials and transporting the bigger ones to and from Scotland

The piece will be performed as a preview in Philadelphia in June at Vox Populi, in NYC in July at The Brick Aux, and in LA in July at The Elysian as well as a segment at Pat Oleszko's Retrospective one day only performance on the Staten Island Ferry June 30th.
I found this character during my studies at École Philippe Gaulier in France. Built heavily off audience participation, I have been workshopping her in bits and excerpts on many different comedic variety shows and even in the streets over the course of the last year. It has been a delight to discover how this character can bring joy to audiences and challenge difficult issues/questions about gender/sexuality–and life itself–that I have been pondering since I was a little kid. I have found this process to be especially rewarding and personally fulfilling. I am very excited to play her and bring this revamped version of a show fully to life in Scotland this summer. I am so grateful to so many people along the way who have helped support me and devote their energy and time to this project. I want to thank all my friends and teachers from École Gaulier who assisted in birthing the character and inspire me to keep performing, Kedian Keohan my big brother and a creative soul mate, my friends and family, K Hurley, Megan Lang, Theresa Bucheister and The Brick, Carter Edwards and Bard College Fisher Center LAB, Betty Smithsonian, Vox Populi Gallery collective, The Elysian, Brad Wrenn, Jenn Kidwell, Becca Blackwell, Maia Saavedra, Ella Gibney, Charlie Mai, Maddie Assarsson and my partner Julia my poster/prop/costume designer extraordinaire, who pushes me, keeps me light and makes absolutely sure I’m no longer green before I go to sleep. Lastly, thank you to the audiences I've played for in the past year, you teach me so much and are so generous. I love you all! Thank you so so much.
