Support Dejean Thompson Brain Surgery

Dejean Thompson is a kind, loyal and innovative healthy 36-year-old. He is also my older brother who helped delivered me at home in rural Jamaica and now it is my turn to help him. He is a hard worker who helps supports his 1-year-old daughter.

One month ago my brother started having seizures. On the evening of March 12th, 2023, Dejean experienced severe headaches, seizures and left-sided weakness sending him to the ER. He had 2 brain scans (CT and MRI) in which both showed a massive brain tumor. We were able to get an appointment for surgery in late April or early May 2023. Long-term rehab will be needed for several weeks. The necessary treatment includes a combination of speech, physical and occupational therapy. He will most likely need help to relearn how to take care of himself and be independent. He has shown courage and perseverance so far, as he continues to work to support his daughter.

A cranioplasty will be scheduled in the coming weeks to remove the tumor. Neurosurgeons are confident that he will do well with surgery. He, unfortunately, does not have health insurance and It is required by the University Hospital of the West Indies that a deposit of at least 80% of the estimated cost is made to undergo surgery.

We are asking for financial help to support Dejean’s surgery and significant future medical needs. We thank you in advance for your support during this difficult time.
