Family vacation quickly turned tragic when Deisel, the 11-year-old female family dog, turned deathly ill during the 7-hour car ride to the beach. What her owners assumed was an upset stomach quickly became more severe. By the time they arrived at their destination, Sweet Deisel had lost the ability to walk or even stand for more than a few seconds. Her owners, James and Jordan Stone, made the decision to take her to the closest 24/7 veterinarian hospital an hour south in Fernandina, Florida, where she was admitted into critical care and kept under constant supervision for 4 days.

Her owners ended up having to extend their stay, unable to come home with her due to her unstable condition. After many days of tests, many anxious late-night trips to and from the hospital, more days of critical treatment, and well over $7,000 in vet bills, Deisel was cleared for the 7-hour transport back to Georgia, where she is now under the care of their local veterinarian hospital in Mt. Airy, GA. Deisel still has a long road to recovery and an ever-climbing amount of vet expenses.
