Hello. I'm Deidra Sharp. I left home 10 months ago on a journey with God to change my life. I was a blackout drinker most of my life. I finally made the decision to get sober but knew I couldn't do it in my hometown of Hot Springs, AR. Sometimes you have to change your people, places, and things. So I did just that! Packed what I could fit in my truck and left home. I got sober on June 1st 2024. I've got 14 months sober and counting.
Anyway... I took a trip home for the 4th of July to see my mama. Had a great time. Was headed home on the 7th. It was a great day. I was so happy reflecting on how good our visit went. We are working on mending our relationship. (My drinking caused a lot of problems). So I was headed back home to Harrison, AR, 3.5 hours from Hot Springs. I was less than 30 mins from home when I ran into a downpour. I was on curvy HWY 7 North. I came up on a curve a little too fast, hit my brakes, and hydroplaned into the opposite lane of oncoming traffic. I hit a lady head-on. I saw everything happen in front of me. Mind you, it's my first wreck sober. Very different experience. I felt everything. I injured the other lady. She had a broken arm. My heart breaks for her because she is in the same situation as me (and it's my fault).
I am unable to work. So I have no income. My rent and bills average $1500/month. The surgeon said it'll be 6 months before I'm completely healed and able to work. Hopefully, I'll still have a job. I broke my femur in two places, one of which tore through my leg and stuck out the side. I broke my foot in 6 places and had to get pins in 2 of my fingers. One broke, one dislocated. Normally, I would not ask for help, but I live somewhere new and I don't know many people. I've been caring for myself alone since the accident. And that's ok. I have people checking on me and bringing me food and whatnot. I'm just asking if anyone is in the financial situation to help me out a little, I would deeply appreciate it and would forever be grateful. Thank you from my heart to yours. Glory to God.
