We are aiming to raise $2500 to cover expenses that had been funded through a partnership with the Chicago Park District, but got dropped due to COVID-19 cancellations.
80% of the funds will go to support 10 teaching artists for their time and creative fees. The rest of the funds will be split between administrative fees, graphic design and marketing fees, and technical support and personnel. $2000 has already been offered in in-kind donations of equipment loans, volunteer administration, scriptwriting, research, recording, editing and post-production!
We are always grateful for any support that our community can offer us in this extraordinary time. This support allows us to continue to grow by investing administrative time into researching equitable models of participation and curation. This effort is essential to nourishing and sustaining a diverse creative community!
The Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology (MWSAE), established in 2009, is a membership organization dedicated to exploring the role of sound in natural habitats and human societies, while promoting public dialogue concerning the identification, preservation, and restoration of natural and cultural sound environments.
MSAE realizes it mission through local initiatives in agreement with the common aims and goals of the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology (WFAE). These include public soundwalks, educational workshops, and creative and scholarly productions. We partner with other organizations, including the National Park Service, Center for Humans and Nature, Chicago Park District, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods, Mixage Fou, and World Listening Project, among others.
