As many of you know, my brother, Jeremy Stafford, was transferred from Walton Hospital to Wilson Hospital on Tuesday, July 15. Due to the critical nature of his condition, he was then moved to Westchester Medical Center.

Jeremy has faced a series of serious medical complications. He’s been on a ventilator to support his breathing and under sedation to allow his body to rest and heal. Throughout it all, my mom has been by his side as much as humanly possible—offering comfort, praying over him, and fiercely advocating for his care.

So far, Jeremy has undergone an aortic valve replacement, suffered a stroke, endured a tracheotomy placement, and is receiving treatment to break up multiple blood clots in his brain, heart, spleen, and lungs. Despite being on IV antibiotics for over two weeks, a severe infection in his spleen has not improved, and his medical team is now preparing to remove it.

My mom has been traveling back and forth from Norwich to NYC to be with him. She hasn’t been able to work during this time, and the costs of travel, meals, and lodging—despite hospital discounts—are quickly adding up. Hotel stays alone cost over $100 per night. Life’s financial obligations , unfortunately, cannot be paused.

There is an incredibly long road ahead. To help ease some of the financial burden while she continues to do what any warrior mother would, I’m starting a GoFundMe to support her during this incredibly difficult time.
