My name is Dedi, and I am facing the most difficult challenge of my life. On July 27, 2024, I was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive terminal cancer called GIST at Stage 3A. I had the Fundus section of my stomach removed the tumor had busted through my stomach wall and was much larger than what they could see with an endoscopy, x-rays and MRIs. In addition to the GIST, I am also battling right Stage 2 kidney cancer, right Stage 1 lung cancer, and stage 4 of 4 liver failure caused by medications I had to take after multiple knee surgeries and a knee replacements. The physical toll of these illnesses is immense, and I still rely on pain medications just to be able to get out of bed and function each day.
The financial strain has been overwhelming. I am no longer able to work, and my application for disability benefits was denied. I cannot access my retirement funds until I turn 60, but with my current prognosis, I may not live long enough to reach that milestone. The costs of ongoing medical tests, treatment plans, and surgical procedures continue to mount, and unexpected bills threaten to push my family further into debt. My greatest fear is becoming a financial burden to my husband and loved ones during this already challenging time.
I am deeply grateful for any support you can offer. Your generosity will help cover essential medical expenses and provide some relief from the constant worry about finances. I was given a 2-5 years life expectancy, and if my GIST returns, I will immediately be at Stage 4 and placed on hospice. Any financial aid would mean the world to me and my family, allowing us to focus on making the most of the time we have together.
