Declan is our smart and funny 3 year old who is a very active boy. September 14th he had what looked like a seizure or a tick. The next day, he had another that looked more like a seizure than a tick so we decided to take him into the pediatric ER. Before we left he had another one so we knew it was going to be serious. That afternoon my sweet boy was admitted into the hospital for seizures and diagnosed with focal epilepsy. After a few EEGs we learned the seizures take place in his entire left side and some right parts of his brain shifting his diagnosis to generalized epilepsy. Our 3 year old has not been 12 hours seizure free since we were admitted. His seizures mostly take place at night when he’s asleep so there’s no telling how many we missed thinking he was sleeping safely. Recently, his night time seizures have been dropping his o2 and they are starting to last up to a little over a minute. We know it could be worse but I cannot begin to describe how hard it is to see your child going through this. With his o2 dropping I feel as if I cannot sleep just in case I miss a really bad one.

Today (September 23rd) we are hopefully being transferred to a hospital with more resources since the MRI at our current hospital isn’t strong enough to see what his current neurologist thinks is causing them.

Our family created this GoFundMe so Declan’s dad can come with us and so we do not have to have added stress of paying bills VS his dad having to be hours away. We rely heavily on John being there so he can watch Declan during the day since I am up during the night with bubby. We absolutely hate asking for help, almost to a fault, but we genuinely need help to get through this since there is no end in sight currently.
