If you believe in supporting trans artistic expression, independent music, and a glimmer of what's special about San Francisco, please consider donating to this album fundraiser! All funds go to pay musicians. We will be ever so grateful <3. Since Adrienne had to leave her job due to long covid, your financial support is crucial to bringing this project to light.
SF-based musical theater writer Adrienne Price (The Red Shades: A Trans Superhero Rock Opera, Totally Normal: A Queer Frenemy Musical Comedy) decided that after 7 years of writing music for other people, she was longing to sing personal songs in her voice. Recording an album has been her lifetime dream. She brought together past collaborators and friends Matt Grandy (producer, keys), Fureigh (guitar), Blair Switch, (bass, drums), Ava Rosen (vocals), and Mya Byrne (banjo) to record 4 previously unreleased songs for the debut album of a new project, Peach Thief. The album, titled Shadows, Darkness and Light, captures a lifetime of spiritual grappling. It includes a prayer for love written on the eve of covid ("Shadows, Darkness and Light"), a duet about Goddess worship ("Under My Door"), and an ode to teenage boys who hid their desires because of homo/transphobia ("Give Me Away"). We hope this EP will be a launching pad for an eventual LP release, including 11 already written songs.
The musical styles range from folk to rock to country to pop, captured with a raw intimacy. The songs tell stories of searching, failure, grief, confusion and peace, insisting that belonging is a complex and ever-unfolding process.
This project can only exist with your support. Please donate what you can and share widely. Thank you soooo much!
xoxo
