Deb and I have been friends for over 23 years, having met at work and shared countless memories together. She’s always been independent, happy, and full of life, living with her beloved cat, Precious. But in early October, everything changed when Deb injured her ankle at home, tearing her Achilles tendon and developing a blood clot below her knee. While dealing with this, she was also diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma on her chest. Thankfully, the cancer was removed, but her health challenges didn’t stop there.
Despite following her orthopedic doctor’s advice and getting a walking boot to regain some mobility, Deb’s pain only worsened. Multiple ER visits, including one by ambulance, led to a devastating diagnosis: nerve damage in her foot, with the possibility of a rare and serious condition. Her doctor’s uncertainty and the need for more tests have left Deb unable to work and facing a long road of medical appointments, physical therapy, and consultations with specialists. She’s always been the one to help others, but now she needs help herself.
Deb has been paying out of pocket for her care, but as her savings run out, she’s struggling to cover her copays, rent, utilities, and daily essentials. She can’t claim disability and is still searching for answers about her condition. Her friends have stepped in to help with rides and errands, but Deb needs more support to get through this difficult time. Please consider donating to help Deb cover her basic needs and medical expenses until she can get back on her feet. Your kindness will make a real difference in her life.
