My dear friend and musical inspiration, Deb Golata, rented the same cottage in Berkeley for 45 years. But she recently faced housing insecurity as her landlady talked about selling. Deb felt she needed a stable situation in her later years, so she has just bought a small house. It is a serious fixer-upper, and she needs our help!
Her new property is extremely damaged, and many big-ticket repairs are needed to make it habitable and to code. They include a new roof, upgrading the entire electrical system, replacing the furnace and ducts (destroyed by rats), eliminating termites, pests and other hazards, replacing degraded and damaged flooring throughout, fixing kitchen and bathroom plumbing and more.
Deb has contributed to our community as a music educator and voice teacher; she has led many choruses and currently directs her church choir. She has touched and inspired countless musicians and students and always shows generosity to others in need. Her new home allows her to stay close to the community where she has many long and cherished ties.
Any amount you can give will go directly into her account and will be greatly appreciated. If you’re unable to donate now, please consider sharing this request with your friends and family.
