Our family received some heartbreaking news recently.

My name is Lisa, and I’m starting this fundraiser for my cousin Debra phillips— but to me she has always been more like a sister. We grew up very close and have shared a strong bond our entire lives. She is someone I love deeply and someone who has always been there for the people around her.

Debra was recently diagnosed with colon cancer, and our family is still trying to process the news. She is now preparing for surgery and the treatments and recovery that will follow.

Unfortunately, her insurance requires a $6,000 copay for the surgery, and during her recovery she will be unable to work for a period of time. Facing a diagnosis like this is already overwhelming, and the added financial stress only makes it harder.

Anyone who knows Debra knows how hardworking and caring she is. She has always been the kind of person who helps others without hesitation. Now she’s the one who needs support.

We are hoping to raise $6,000 to help cover the copay for her surgery so she can focus on healing and getting through this fight without the weight of that financial burden.
