On Thursday, July 24, our beloved colleague, friend, and dedicated nurse Debby, was violently assaulted while walking to her car at the end of her 12 hour shift. She is a hospice and palliative care nurse. Debby is an incredible nurse, caring for those at end of life, while also supporting their families through these precious moments.
The attack left Debby with both physical injuries and emotional trauma, requiring medical attention, time off work, and long-term recovery support. No nurse should ever fear for their safety while at work, but unfortunately, workplace violence in healthcare is all too real.
Debby has always gone above and beyond for her patients, coworkers, and community. Now it’s our turn to care for her.
Debby is a cherished and adored mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Debby is a lover of sport and adventure and this experience is threatening her independent Spirit. No one should have the power to take something so sacred from another person.
We’re raising funds to help cover:
• Medical bills not covered by insurance
• Time off work and lost wages
• Mental health support and trauma recovery
• Daily living expenses during her healing process
Please consider donating what you can, sharing this campaign, and standing with Debby in the fight to end violence against healthcare workers.
Let’s show her that compassion, community, and kindness are stronger than violence.
With gratitude,
