Hi! My name is Debbie, what I thought was a small minor issue has now turned into a huge serious problem. I noticed the day after Christmas that my 2nd toe was swollen red and painful, by the time that I was able to talk to my podiatrist because of the holidays, it had doubled in size. I went for x ray and began antibiotics. On January1 2025 I ended up in the ER on the verge of being septic. I had to go into surgery the following day and have the 2nd toe amputated. After being released from the hospital and weeks of follow up appts the surgical wound was not healing despite all efforts and being on antibiotics. I ended up back in the hospital on Feb 28th. and had to additional surgery resulting in taking more bone from my foot. I have been through anIther month and half of follow up appts and I am now facing another infection around the surgical wound and on another round antibiotics. I called my Pcp and had an Ppt with her Friday to discuss further options and she agreed that I needed to have bone scan and also be referred to an infectious disease dr for more depth test to get to the root of the cause. This has taken a huge toll both mentally and financially and I asking if you are able to donate to assisting me to pay down the medical bills from 10 days total in the hospital, 2 surgeries, 15 follow up office visits, 4 weeks wound care treatments, numerous xrays and 2 MRIs, and unknown test to come in the next month or so.
