Update: Debbie has had surgery on her right hip and it was extremely successful! But her left hip surgery has been postponed due to the Delta variant of covid. Hopefully, it will happen in November or December. In the meantime, she is still suffering and needing help with finances at least until a month or so beyond that second surgery. I've increased our funding goal. If you haven't yet given (or have) and feel moved to help, it is most needed and gratefully appreciated!! Also, please forward!
In 2002, my sister Debbie was the victim of a prank accident when a co-worker kicked a chair out from under her and she landed in a bad fall on the floor. From the day of this accident, Debbie has suffered from debilitating nerve damage in her back and hip. The pain and immobility has limited her ability to work, walk, and enjoy her life. Over the years, though she has been to many doctors, had surgery on her upper back/neck, and relied on chiropractic care to walk at all, her pain has increased and her mobility has become even more diminished. Most days she can barely walk due to the excruciating pain, even with the help of a walker or crutches. Sitting and standing for lengths of time are also very difficult.
The wonderful news is that Debbie’s current doctors have diagnosed that if she has 3 surgeries over the next 12 – 16 months, 2 hip replacements, and a lower back surgery for L4 and L5 discs, she has an excellent prognosis, and should be able to resume something close to the normal life she was robbed of, for the last 19 years. Moreover, her insurance is expected to cover at least 2, hopefully all 3 surgeries
I have started this campaign because after each of the surgeries, there is a recovery period of 6 – 8 weeks where Debbie won’t be able to work at all, and she needs financial help to survive through these periods of no income, as well as in case of other related medical expenses.
Debbie has been such a trooper through all the difficulties of living with this level of chronic, disabling pain for so many years, it would be a true blessing for her to finally have some ease in her life, being able to relax about finances and focus on her recovery. I invite you to share this campaign link with anyone who you know who knows Debbie and what a wonderful person she is, and how much she deserves to have these surgeries, finally be free from suffering and enjoy her life. Also, in case the 3rd surgery isn’t covered by her insurance, it would be amazing to raise enough money to make sure Debbie can get that final operation as well. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for any amount you feel moved to contribute to Debbie’s recovery period, and for sharing this campaign with your friends. She really needs our support. #Debbiegofundme
