Dear friends and Family,

Debbie is in the Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit. She went to the hospital with pneumonia and has been diagnosed with severe Congestive Heart Failure. Her heart is now only pumping with 10% EF and she is in critical condition.

When they put in her pacemaker, it perforated her heart. She had life threatening internal bleeding called “cardiac tamponade.” She had an emergency procedure done to save her life and then she coded. Her heart stopped for 12 minutes.

She then needed an emergency open heart surgery for the internal bleeding. All of this caused serious complications to the point that her organs began failing. Thank God she was revived and has started responding to medication and very intense medical care. Then, we found out that one of leads from the pacemaker was dislodged during the open heart surgery and the pacemaker had to be replaced.

It has been one horrible thing after another, and somehow she continues to fight and be strong. It is a miracle that her condition now appears favorable to her survival. To that point, we have a long road ahead and many battles to face. There is great concern that she may develop an infection and that her organs may not function as needed. The cardiac team has informed the family to prepare for a heart transplant. She will have to be moved to a transplant facility. She is very fragile.

Her sister Jeanmarie and her niece Tiffany have consulted with cardiac experts and are continuing to do so as her condition changes. They have been proactive advocates for her medical care. Thank God! Debbie has her daughters, her father, her sister, her niece, and numerous loved ones by her side.

Needless to say, this generates overwhelming financial strain for Debbie as well as her family and caretakers. Debbie is a single mother and the sole provider for her household. In addition to your prayers, we ask for donations to cover as many anticipated and unanticipated expenses as possible. Everything helps.
