My sister is experiencing a mother’s worst nightmare. Her son, my 17-year-old nephew, was in a horrible accident in Cape Coral and is currently in ICU. He has been in there since August 16th. My sister, Dea, has been by his side the entire time and will continue to do so. He is a senior in high school and has so much going for him. Not only is he the sweetest kid, but he will do anything for his family and friends.
After his accident, he suffered three seizures. He has severe head trauma from a fractured skull, blood clots, and blood leakage from his ear and nose (which finally stopped a few days ago). He has road rash from his head to his toes and a deep open wound on his lower back.
He can only open his eyes a few times throughout the day and can only say a few words at a time. He is very confused and has short-term memory loss. The road to recovery has not even started yet.
My sister, of course, cannot work. She cannot even think about her bills, which is why I am asking for your help. As the immediate family, we are doing what we can to help, but it’s not going to cover enough. She is still trying to get the insurance to go through for him for the hospital bills, which is another added stress she does not need. As of now, the hospital’s social worker has informed her he will need 24-hour care at home until the foreseeable future along with rehab.
Everything donated will be going towards allowing my sister to stay with him as his caregiver and helping him with his rehab when that time comes.
I ask if anything, please share this and keep them in your prayers.
