Hi friends, family, and community. My name is Colene, and I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support for my brother, Dean Rydock. The past year has been unbelievably challenging for Dean and his family. He and his beloved wife, Elia, would have celebrated 36 years of marriage this month. Dean is a devoted father to two adult daughters, and to truly understand the depth of what he has endured, I want to share a bit of his journey.
Dean was diagnosed with severe arthritis in his neck and spine. Without treatment, he faced the devastating prospect of spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair. He bravely underwent surgery, enduring two weeks in intensive care followed by a month in a rehabilitation facility. Just as he was beginning to heal, Elia became seriously ill. Dean selflessly put his own recovery and physical therapy on hold to care for her during multiple hospital stays. During this incredibly difficult time, Dean received another blow—a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. Elia’s health continued to decline, and after several hospitalizations, she was admitted to the ICU. The doctors discovered her heart was failing, and the prognosis was grim. With immense courage and love, my niece Jesica, her husband, Dean, and Veronica brought Elia home with hospice care, ensuring her comfort and dignity in her final days. Elia passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, nine days later.
Now Dean is facing a challenging road ahead. He may need a second surgery to adjust the initial procedure, along with ongoing physical therapy. The onset of Parkinson’s disease will make it difficult for him to seek employment and replace the income lost after Elia’s passing. That is why I am asking for help—your contributions will provide crucial financial support, allowing Dean to focus on his recovery from surgery and manage his Parkinson’s disease through physical therapy and medical care until he can find employment. Dean is a pillar of his community in Port Sanilac, deeply involved in his church and volunteering with numerous supportive groups, including visiting men in the local jail. With the support of the community, Dean can continue his healing journey and keep giving back to others. We are incredibly grateful for any support you can offer—whether it’s a donation, a share, or a prayer. Every little bit helps. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
