Support Deanna's Battle with Lung Cancer
Donation protected
Never in a million years did I imagine I'd be creating a fundraiser for my big sister because of CANCER. What started as back pain this spring turned out to be stage 4 metastatic lung cancer. We're talking about my sister Deanna who is a non-smoker and ran cross country in high school. My sister who worked out at the gym on lunch breaks years before doing that was even a thing. She always ate her veggies and could wear a bikini to the beach even after having 2 kids.
And now, out of the blue, Deanna has lung cancer - incurable, we are told, because it has spread, causing multiple tiny fractures in bones throughout her body. These fractures are very painful. As a palliative measure she has had three rounds of chemo (one more to go for this cycle), and had a round of daily radiation. She takes a daily, targeted therapy pill that we hope will extend her life - but costs thousands of dollars.
Between the discomfort of both the cancer and the cure, Deanna has lost weight and muscle and energy. There have been days when her pain and discomfort killed her appetite - so we are striving to keep her eating as healthy as possible. We are forever grateful to neighbors and friends who have graciously cooked for Deanna and her family, husband Bert and kids Jess and Christopher. The outpouring of love with calls, texts, gifts and cards make her feel loved - and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for that!!
In a few short weeks, Deanna's medical leave - and income - will end. Medical bills have started arriving - and this is just the beginning. To help her pay these bills and add complementary care to ease pain with a more holistic approach, we are asking for your help. Any amount you can give will help Deanna and her family get through this insanely stressful time.
But the most valuable currency on this journey will be your positive thoughts, prayers and white light healing energy. We are grateful for that and for all of you.
