First, I would like to thank everyone who has supported me in my journey to become an At-Large Alternate Delegate to the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. I would not have made it this far without the support of people that believed in my ability to make an impact where and when it counts. I have had the good fortune of being involved in politics since the age of 19 when I was chosen to present to Senator Ron Wyden in Washington D.C. on behalf of Portland YouthBuilders to lobby for funding for our educational trades programs. Unbeknownst to myself at the time, that was the beginning a long journey in political advocacy that has brought me to where I stand today.

I have had the pleasure of representing our African-American community on the I-5 Rose Quarter Project , calling for and securing careers for minority groups in the trades and the restoration of our African-American communities through tradework while serving as the Chair of Economic Development for the Portland NAACP. I've been honored to host a dinner advocating for the importance of affordable housing and home ownership for our previous Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Marcia Fudge, facilitate calls for discussing future large infrastructure jobs for minority contractors through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) between local contractors and Mitch Landrieu, and have been front and center with President Biden during his visit to Portland where he stressed the importance of the continued development of our country's airports, runways and bridges. I've since been able to continue that work as the First Vice President of the Portland NAACP and have brought my lived experienced to the Portland Clean Energy and Community Benefits Fund as a standing Member-at-Large. The trades are intrinsically tied to the history of African-Americans in this country and now more than ever we need a voice that can speak to that importance in rebuilding our country. I would be beyond privileged to be a part of history in being that voice by attending the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, IL. But I need your help to get there.

I humbly ask for your support in raising the funds to support this journey. The donations to this fundraiser will support covering airfare, hotel, travel, food and incidental costs. The State of Oregon has a controversial past in the lack of electing Delegates of color that it has since worked towards rectifying, and your contribution will enable me to represent our beautiful state and our African-American community. I will be attending trainings, caucus meetings and bringing valuable knowledge back to our impacted communities on what our National Democratic Party has planned for our country and how to sit at the table as part of those changes. This is a significant opportunity that only comes once every four years and I firmly believe that we cannot let sit idly by as it comes and goes. It takes a village, as they say, and today I'm hopeful that the village around me can help me overcome this undertaking.
Now, more than ever, it is important that we have a thorough gamut of representation and lived experiences on the floor at the 2024 Democratic National Convention to ensure the security of our great democracy. Our country has a lot of work to do in rebuilding trust in our political systems, reinforcing national infrastructure, and ensuring voter turnout in impacted communities among much more. This is but a small yet critically important step in ensuring that we are that much closer to the goal. The journey does not end here.
I look forward to continuing my advocacy for this party, this State and its people in every capacity possible.
Thank you for your support.
Respectfully,
