We are reaching out to our community to ask for your support in helping cover the mounting medical expenses of Dean Thiery, who has faced significant health challenges over the past several years. Dean’s journey is one of resilience and hope. With collective support, he can continue receiving the care he needs and focus on healing. Every act of kindness brings him one step closer to independence.

Seven years ago, Dean was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease that causes weakness in the skeletal muscles. After battling Myasthenia Gravis for five years, he received diagnoses of Lupus and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, further complicating his health. Subsequent blood tests indicated potential liver issues. A liver biopsy confirmed liver disease, which doctors believe is a consequence of the strong medications used to manage the Myasthenia Gravis.

In April 2025, Dean experienced a life-threatening episode of Hepatic Encephalopathy and required hospitalization for eight days. As a result of the Encephalopathy, combined with neuropathy in their legs, walking became severely impaired. He had to undergo retraining to learn how to walk again, first with a walker and eventually with a cane.

Last month, a Lupus flare-up and persistent liver toxicity led to another seven-day hospital stay. Dean experienced severe weakness and further difficulties with walking. Currently, he is receiving care in a Skilled Nursing Facility, working to regain the strength and abilities needed to perform daily activities such as showering, dressing, and preparing meals.

The ongoing medical treatments and care have resulted in substantial expenses, including:

-Excessive ambulance transportation costs

-Emergency room visits

-Extended hospital stays

-Skilled Nursing Facility charges

-Adaptive equipment to aid mobility
