Support Dean LaPlant's Heart Transplant Recovery
Donation protected
On January 19th 2025, my dad (Dean LaPlant) drove himself to the emergency room like he had many other times in the weeks prior. Little did we know, this time would be different. On Wednesday January 22nd he was flown to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where he was told he would need a life saving heart transplant. He was stable enough to be listed on the donor registry on January 27th. On Friday, February 7th they found a match and he received his new heart. After going through what the doctors referred to as “being hit by a truck” he was up walking within a couple of days and was released from the hospital on Thursday February 20th, just 32 days after being admitted to the hospital. Truly nothing less than a miracle, we are amazed by how good our God is.
While we are very grateful he was released from the hospital, he still has a long road ahead of him. Him and my mom have to stay in Rochester for at least 90 days following the transplant so he can attend numerous appointments weekly and be close to his doctors. On top of the bills piling up at home, they now have the expense of having to stay in Rochester during his recovery. My dads always been a provider and it’s been hard on him to not be able to do that right now. I started this GoFundMe for all those who have asked how they can help my parents financially, and want to help alleviate the financial stress during his recovery. Any amount will be a blessing to him during his recovery and we thank you so much for the continued prayers.
