My name is Adelina Rodríguez Orellana. I am the sister of a 4th grade student at Cook Campus, the cousin of Alex’s daughters, and I also work at Mundo Verde Public Charter School.

On August 31, 2025, our loved one Mauricio Alexander Esquivel García (Alex) was unjustly detained by ICE in Fort Totten, DC, while he was simply waiting for his father in a parked car. In just a matter of minutes, his family’s life completely changed.

Today I want to share with you Alex’s story, as well as the testimonies of his daughter Kaylie and my aunt Dolores Haydelinda Orellana Membreno. I will also be accompanying this process as the coordinator of this campaign, with the hope of achieving his release and reuniting him with his family.

Alex’s family is facing a painful and overwhelming situation: beyond the fear and uncertainty of a possible permanent separation, they must cover urgent legal expenses, the bond for his release, and the high costs of phone calls from detention. This burden has deeply affected them both emotionally and financially.

Alex is a hardworking, noble, and loving father. His daughters, Kaylie (14 years old) and Daniela (9 years old), are waiting at home with the hope of having him back by their side. They need their dad not only as a provider, but as the heart and pillar that gives strength and stability to their family life.

We are raising funds to secure his release and give him a fair chance to defend his case. Every contribution, no matter the size, represents hope, solidarity, and the possibility of keeping this family together.

"I write these words together with my daughter Kaylie to express from the heart what Alex—my husband and her father—means to us. Alex is an honest, hardworking, and loving man. Since we were young, he has been my life partner and my companion in faith, always dedicated to building a family based on values, respect, and love. He has never failed us. His only “sin” has been seeking a better future for the people he loves most.

"For our daughters, Alex is an exemplary father. Kaylie remembers how he was always present at every swim competition, cheering her on and giving her the confidence to believe in herself. His hugs, his smile, and his constant encouragement are what we miss the most at home. His absence has left a huge emptiness in our home and in our hearts.

"Alex is not a criminal. He is a good man who deserves to be home with his family. We trust in God and in our faith that he will return to us soon. Please, give him the chance to come back. His family needs him."

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes la historia de Alex, así como los testimonios de su hija Kaylie y de mi tía Dolores Haydelinda Orellana Membreno. También estaré acompañando este proceso como coordinadora de esta campaña, con la esperanza de lograr su liberación y reunirse nuevamente con su familia.

La familia de Alex enfrenta una situación muy dolorosa y abrumadora: más allá del miedo y la incertidumbre de una posible separación permanente, deben cubrir gastos legales urgentes, el pago de la fianza para su liberación y los altos costos de las llamadas desde detención. Esta carga ha golpeado profundamente tanto en lo emocional como en lo financiero.

Alex es un padre trabajador, noble y amoroso. Sus hijas, Kaylie (14 años) y Daniela (9 años), lo esperan en casa con la ilusión de volver a tenerlo a su lado. Ellas lo necesitan no solo como proveedor, sino como el corazón y el pilar que da fuerza y estabilidad a su vida familiar.
