My wife, Dawn, has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. This news has turned our world upside down, and we are now preparing for a challenging journey ahead. Dawn will need to undergo surgery, followed by radiation treatments that will be at a minimum, five days a week for four weeks. The cancer center where she will receive her care is over an hour away from our home when traffic is good and if you know anything about this area and traffic, there aren’t many good traffic days. More often than not, that travel time will be doubled.
The funds raised through this campaign will help us cover travel expenses required to get Dawn to and from her doctor's appointments and daily treatments, potentially necessary overnight stays near the treatment facility, and medical costs that are not fully covered by insurance. There is the potential for unpaid days off to support her recovery along with supplies, meals, and other unexpected expenses that tend to arise in these situations. One thing we have learned so far in this short journey is plans and needs can change in an instant and those who have fought this battle already have advised and warned us about expected and unexpected expenses that can add up and take a great financial toll before you know it.
Dawn is a fighter and determined to beat this! We know the road ahead will be long and challenging, but with the support of our friends, family, and community, we know we will get through this. We would both greatly appreciate any help you can give and will forever be grateful for your kindness, generosity, and most of all your prayers. Thank you and God Bless.
