Support Dawn's Battle Against Colon Cancer

Dawn is an amazing parent, wife, daughter, and friend who has been struggling with stage 4 colon cancer since January 2021. Her fight has taken her through years of chemo, two liver resections, and the insertion of a medical device known as an HAI pump. All of this effort required many day and overnight trips from Hendersonville, NC to Duke Cancer Center in Durham, NC (close to 80 over the past three years!). Duke is a world-renowned cancer center and has overseen her care. They have gotten her to a place of NED - No Evidence of Disease - twice.

Sadly, the cancer cells have grown in her liver again, and the doctors have prescribed chemo for life. Dawn will continue receiving care at Duke Cancer Center so that her doctors can attempt to stop further growth while providing the best quality of life.

This recent, devastating news has been heartbreaking for Dawn, her husband Mike, and her family. Unfortunately, the financial burden persists because she will continue bi-weekly trips to Duke, many of which require overnight stays in Durham. Throughout three and a half years of treatments, Dawn had to give up her 20-plus year career in program management focused on helping elderly individuals live at home and maintain quality of life. She and Mike are raising her grandson, Cylas.

I am a friend she met during her cancer treatment. She was a few weeks ahead of me and was a godsend to me. She told me what to expect, eased my anxiety, and was a guiding light to me. We received the exact treatments minus the resections.
