Dawna is my cousin, and she comes from a tight-knit family that has always supported one another through life’s ups and downs. Recently, Dawna experienced an unimaginable loss—her husband passed away on Feb 22. This tragedy has left her not only grieving but also facing a mountain of medical bills and the overwhelming costs of a funeral.

Joel Rodriguez passed away on a Sunday afternoon in the warm loving arms of his wife of nearly 35 years, Dawna Rodriguez, his two pups, Hawkeye and Sophia, and his one and only child, his daughter, Leyla Rodriguez, by his side holding his hand, just like he wanted.

Graduate of Eastwood High School, Class of 1984, Trooper Clap. He worked for 40+ years in the automotive industry as a Parts Specialist and Manager for 3 of the most notable dealerships in El Paso, Casa Nissan, Dick Poe Toyota and Porsche El Paso.

To know Joel is to love Joel. There isn’t a soul that met him who wasn’t charmed by his magnetic personality and big beautiful smile, and at the young age of 59 and after a hard fought 3 year battle of 2 terminal illnesses, his weakened body finally had enough and is now at rest. He is loved and will be terribly missed by many.

Joel is survived by his wife, daughter, 2 brothers and lots of family and many friends who’s lives will never be the same without him in it.

Dawna has always been there for her loved ones, offering kindness and support whenever it was needed. Now, she needs our help more than ever. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward covering her husband’s medical bills and funeral expenses, easing some of the financial burden during this heartbreaking time.
