Support Dawn Stephenson's Fight Against Cancer

Good afternoon, my name is Dawn Stephenson. Many of you know me and many know of me. I have been fighting lung cancer for four years as of now. I thought at many times as each tumor was placed into remission or surgically removed I had survived neuroendocrine cancer. I have removed a portion of a lung, then radiation, and then chemotherapy only to have the cancer cross the blood-brain barrier and enter the brain. I followed this with brain surgery last year and we took a tumor from my brain and cleared the cancer again. With cancer that can't be cured but can be maintained, we followed this with CAT scans, MRI, and PET scans only to find new tumors had surfaced and once again I must go to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida to remove and chemically treat the cancer.

Cancer is costly to deal with and my Medicare thankfully covers much but not all expenses. I have a problem with the transportation to and lodging for the long days of treatments. As we all know, travel is expensive these days and the hospital nor medical insurance helps with these costs. I am elderly and on a fixed income as I age. I am a single woman and live alone. I occasionally have a roommate that helps defray costs but at this time I am without. I am going to be going to the cancer center for six trips over the next few months. Each trip requires a four-day stay and infusion each day. I understand to many the travel expenses seem small and to some you understand the burden is unreachable. I ask if you will donate to my cause to help me secure the necessary funds to help me accomplish my goal. I am so appreciative of your concern and support to help me continue to live. To live a life of constant medical care is burdensome but it's still a life that enables me to watch my grandchildren grow and see a beautiful sunset daily.
