Hi! My name’s Jeannine, and I have been friends with Dawn for over 20 years. We’ve been through a lot of ups and downs over that time, but we never could have imagined that we would be both battle breast cancer in the same year. I completed radiation in August, and encouraged every woman I knew to get a mammogram, including Dawn.
Dawn was diagnosed with breast cancer in early September after her first mammogram and several follow up tests. Her prognosis is good and the cancer is in an early stage. She has no genetic markers or family history, just some really bad luck.
The doctors have recommended for her to go straight to surgery. Final pathology and oncology will be determined after her double mastectomy. This surgery is scheduled for December 3rd.
As she navigates this challenging journey towards restoring her health, we are seeking support for her medical expenses and recovery time.
Dawn has been working with doctors in Norwalk and Darien. She has also partnered with an integrative specialist in Columbia, a necessary yet uninsured part of her care. Despite a fuel efficient car and “fuc*ing Obamacare”, expenses are adding up fast.
Dawn will be out of work (3 part time jobs) for 4-6 weeks, which doesn’t include any time she may need for secondary care or physical therapy.
Every contribution, no matter how small, will help ease the financial burden and allow Dawn to focus on healing. Your support will finance a massive deductible, complementary therapies, home care, lost wages, supplementation and living expenses. It will bring a sense of comfort and reassurance during this difficult time.
