We are raising funds to support Dawn Anderson, a beloved mother, grandmother ‘Mimi’, mentor, and lifelong horsewoman as she bravely battles stage 4 cancer.
Dawn was diagnosed in the fall of 2024, and over the last several months, her condition has progressed to the point where she is no longer able to work. In the last month especially, her pain has increased significantly, bringing new physical and emotional challenges to her daily life.
For those who know her, Dawn is the heart and soul behind Sunrise Equestrian Center. Horses have been her life’s passion. Through her dedication, she has shaped and inspired countless riders, students, and families over the years. She has been and is a role model to so many, teaching not only horsemanship, but perseverance, kindness, compassion and strength both in and out of the saddle.
Dawn’s greatest pride, however, is her family. She is a devoted mother to four daughters and a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren. Her love for them is fierce and endless, and her determination to keep fighting is fueled by the people who mean the world to her.
Recently, Dawn was placed in the hospital. In order to get home, she is required to be on several uncovered medications that are crucial for her survival. This paired
with a specific and costly diet required to support her treatment. These expenses, combined with ongoing medical care, have created a looming financial burden and necessity for additional help.
To the horse community: Dawn has given so much of herself over the years; earliest mornings, latest of nights, quiet encouragements after hard rides, and unwavering belief in others when they needed it most. She has always been someone who has showed up, stayed, and cared for anyone who needed it. Now, she needs us most. She is someone who has shaped many of us in a way that will never be forgotten.
This fundraiser is meant to help ease the weight of the required uncovered medical prescriptions and living expenses so Dawn can focus her energy to what matters most: her health, her family, and her fight.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping Dawn and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you all for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
