Hello, my name is Paula Gibson, and I am reaching out to you on behalf of my dear friends, Dawn DeBear, her husband Peter, and their loyal guide dog, Donut.

Dawn has faced immense challenges since losing her sight gradually and becoming legally blind in 2018. Despite these obstacles, she has worked tirelessly to adapt to her new reality by seeking support from the San Diego Center For The Blind, learning braille, and forming a close bond with her guide dog, Donut who is not only her eyes but also her unwavering emotional support through current difficult times and those to come.

Dawn and Peter have been together since 2003 and married since 2017. However, just a few months ago, Peter’s health took a devastating turn. Peter has been fighting Multiple Myeloma and chronic kidney disease, and was recently rushed to the hospital following a bad fall where he was diagnosed with life-threatening congestive heart failure. He is enduring grueling rounds of chemotherapy and kidney dialysis, leaving him unable to work due to being in critical condition. His prognosis remains serious.

As you can imagine, this has placed an overwhelming strain on Dawn as she juggles being Peter’s primary caregiver while also managing her own needs and challenges with blindness. With mounting medical bills for Peter’s treatments and the everyday costs of living, Dawn is in urgent need of financial support.

This family desperately needs your help. We are raising funds to cover:

· Peter’s lifesaving treatments including dialysis, chemotherapy, and

· Basic living expenses to keep a roof over their head during this

· Support for Donut’s care, as he remains a vital part of their journey.
