Hello,
I am creating this for a close loved one, his name is Davy and he is a father of 4, grandfather of 10, brother, son, and friend. As long as I have known him, he is always the life of the party and is always the first one to lend out a helping hand. My friend, his daughter, Jay has been by his side since he was diagnosed with stage 3 liver cancer and was told he needed a transplant in order to live a longer life - he was told that he only had a year and a half year to live if he didn't get a transplant. Davy and Jay have been living a nightmare for the last year. As a friend, I admire both his and her dedication and resilience in all that they have faced. She is the primary caretaker of her father. She is there for every appointment, phone call, and meeting to ensure her dad gets the care he needs. Once she was told he needed a liver transplant, her response was, "Okay, what needs to be done.", she was ready to face whatever was needed in order to save her dad's life. In the last year, she and her father have gone to countless appointments to not only fight his cancer but to make sure he was eligible for a transplant. God willing, a few days ago, she was told that her dad had a donor - within days he was in surgery at Stanford and has successfully received the liver transplant. Her dad, Davy, has battled what only one can imagine. He has been picked and prodded for the last year, the list of follow-up visits and doctor appointments has seemed endless - every appointment there was something new he had to do. With his support system, and his own willingness to fight, he has persisted and did all he needed to in order to receive a liver transplant to live a longer life. Praise God! After he got his transplant, there is a huge amount of work that needs to be done to ensure he lives the best life. He is required to stay in San Francisco, where he had his transplant done, for 2 months where he will be monitored and assisted as he goes through this transition. His daughter, Jay, will need to be by his side the entire time - she can't work as he needs support and care of all hours of the day. As a mother of 6, she needs support in keeping their family afloat while she's there for her dad. Jay needs to stay in San Francisco while her family is here in Fresno. Stanford doesn't offer any assistance for her lodging, gas, and food so any donation and prayer is greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read and hear their story.
