Juan David Serna, also known as “Davisito,” has earned a contract with the Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps for this summer. He is currently a member of Gran Banda Drum Corps in Medellín, Colombia, and this will be his age-out year in DCI. Davisito is an outstanding mellophone and trumpet player, a disciplined marcher, and a respected leader within Gran Banda. His opportunity to perform with Crossmen will allow him not only to grow as a performer but also to bring back valuable knowledge and experience to support the development of students and programs across Colombia. He is from Bogotá, and he teaches and mentors ensembles there while continuing to perform with Gran Banda Drum & Bugle Corps from Medellín.
Marching a DCI season is a significant financial commitment for any student. For an international student from Colombia, the cost is even greater, with additional expenses for travel and visas. Over the past several months, I have been working with Gran Banda to help expand access and opportunity for young musicians. Supporting Davisito is not only an investment in one exceptional performer, but also in the continued growth of drum corps in Colombia. If you are willing to contribute or would like more information on how to support him, please let me know.
