Help 7-Year-Old Davinson Get the Vision Care He Desperately Needs

Meet Davinson — a sweet, curious, and adventurous 1st grader at one of our elementary schools in Denton, TX. At just 7 years old, Davinson is facing serious vision challenges that prevent him from seeing the world around him. His story was brought to us by the loving educators who support him every day and are fighting to get him the help he needs.

Davinson and his family are originally from Honduras and do not have medical insurance. He’s recently been referred to a specialist after an eye clinic exam revealed serious concerns. The preliminary diagnosis may include retinal detachment, retinal folding, and cataracts — conditions that may require urgent and ongoing treatment, including potential cataract surgery that could cost anywhere between $3,000 and $10,000.

The family cannot afford the initial $350 consultation fee, let alone the cost of surgery and transportation to and from appointments. They are doing their best, but they can’t do this alone.

When Davinson received his first pair of glasses, his world changed. He began touching everything around him, walking more confidently, and making new friends. But glasses are just the beginning — he needs consistent care from specialists to preserve and hopefully improve his vision.

His teacher says it best:

“Davinson is the sweetest kid. He loves dinosaurs, sharks, and lions. He’s always alert in class — I just wish he could fully see it all. He can only see from one eye, and even that eye has poor vision. We’ve done everything we can at school. Now we need your help.”
