Support David's Stroke and Rehabilitation Recovery Journey

Donation protected
I cannot thank our village enough for showing up for us and checking in. So many of you have asked how you can help, and this is one way that would be a huge help. My husband, David Ferro, suffered a sudden hemorrhagic stroke, causing a brain aneurysm that the doctors did not believe he would live through past the first night after admittance to the hospital. Most individuals who suffer from subarachnoids (the type David has) have very high fatality rates, up to 80% or more due to blood spillage, pressure, and swelling in the brain. David's injury occurred on the right side of his brain, causing significant thinking, memory gaps, and movement deficits to the left side of his body. He is also more prone to seizures and will need to be on blood thinners possibly for the rest of his life. Due to this significant brain injury and the blood clots he has, he will continue to need speech, rehabilitation, and other types of therapy for a prolonged period. Getting him back to as close to normal as possible will take up to 1 year, if not longer. Since we are not close to an area that is ideal for our insurance, we have been told that much of the rehabilitation and other unforeseen expenses that are close to us will be out of pocket.

We have always planned for medical emergencies, but not to this extent so early in our lives. Since this happened to him, our two-year-old, and any other children we decide to have will need to be tested when they are older to closely examine the blood vessels and determine if they will possibly have a cerebral aneurysm at some point that could be coiled before it bursts like it did to him. We would love to have more children, but this is an unimaginable decision to make in itself.

If you are able to donate, it would mean the world to us to have him with us longer and give him the joy of running around with our daughter again.
