Hi, my name is David Hinton III.
I'm a first-time father to a beautiful 4-month-old baby boy and a loving fiancé to my partner of 5 years. Right now, I’m the sole provider for our small family while my fiancée finishes college and begins her career.
On June 4th, our lives were turned upside down. I was in a serious electric scooter accident going 40 mph. I had to be life-flighted, received CPR for several hours, and was intubated before spending over 24 hours in a medically induced coma.
When I arrived at the CDA hospital, doctors discovered I had suffered a brain bleed that was inoperable, and my collarbone was completely snapped. I spent a week in the hospital, in and out of consciousness, before being transferred to St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Center to begin recovery.
I’m incredibly fortunate to be recovering faster than expected, but I still have a long road ahead — and right now, I’m unable to work. Just weeks before the accident, I had returned from paid leave to bond with my newborn. Because of this, I don’t qualify for FMLA or paid medical leave, leaving us without income while I heal.
I’m creating this fundraiser to ask for help covering our essential expenses — rent, utilities, car payments, insurance, and basic living costs — for the next 4 months while I recover. My goal is to return to work as soon as I’m medically cleared, but I need time to heal safely and fully.
If you’re able to donate, share, or send encouragement, it means more than I can express. Your support will help lift the financial burden off my family's shoulders during this incredibly difficult time and allow me to focus on recovery, fatherhood, and getting back on my feet.
With deep gratitude,
David Hinton III
