We are the O'Neil family. If you're from Northern Indiana, you've probably seen snippets of our story before. We are a family of 4, with two beautiful baby boys (3 months and 2 years). I am Claudia and my husband is David.
David was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Type B (ALL-B) in November 2020, a few days after our first wedding anniversary. He has since relapsed 3 times in the last 6 years. He had a stem cell transplant back in May 2022 and received CAR-T cell therapy in January 2024 after our first son was born. The CAR-T cells didn't take, even after two infusions. If you're wondering what it is, it's turning some of his T cells into cancer fighting T cells, with the hope of them keeping him in remission and cancer free.
His cancer relapsed at the beginning of March 2026 and he's been receiving weekly spinal chemo treatments, now bi-weekly. He is technically in remission but cannot continue the chemo treatments for the long run. He needs actual treatment to keep the cancer from coming back. He has been struggling with qualifying for insurance to cover his next CAR-T cell therapy in Indianapolis. Neither of us work at the moment and he makes too much on SSDI to qualify for Medicaid. Medicare could cover most of the treatment cost but that would still leave $110,000 for us to pay out of pocket and honestly... who has that kind of money??
Anyways. All of this to say we would appreciate any financial help for my husband to receive this treatment. He is such a well loved person by everyone he meets and God willing, we would love for him to live a good, long life. He has two beautiful boys that he would love to raise with me. We are faith driven and any prayers are so greatly appreciated and loved. We know God has a purpose for all of this and one day, it will become clear. For now, we just need some assistance.
