My husband David Burlingame had a double lung transplant two months ago, and our lives have changed in ways we never expected. He is still in Shands Hospital and will likely be there for another four months before moving on to rehab. To be close to him, I’ve had to rent a place in Gainesville, while our home in Ormond Beach is up for sale. It’s been a whirlwind—Gainesville has changed so much since I went to college here for a year!
We’re facing a mountain of expenses: two rents, double electric and water bills, insurance, and caring for our dog, just to name a few. The costs keep adding up while David fights to recover and we try to keep everything afloat. I’ve always been the one organizing fundraisers for others, and never imagined I’d be in this position myself.
If you’re able to help, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know times are tough for everyone, and your support—no matter the amount—means the world to us. With gratitude, Cindy
