I am David, a grandfather and SilverSmith Artist of Northern Plains Lakota Designed Jewelry. I have been on dialysis for five years and need a kidney transplant. Without a car, it’s been difficult to get to my dialysis treatments and the appointments required to be placed on the transplant list. My family and I recently became houseless while waiting for disability funds, which has made everything even more challenging.

For over 20 years, I have provided prayers for patients at the Regional Hospital (now Monument) and for more than 30 years, I have shared traditional music at local churches for Native parishioners’ events, wakes, and funerals. My wife and I cared for our daughter as she battled SLE Lupus for 18 years, until she passed away in 2019. Now, we are facing our own health issues and are grateful for the support we’ve received from our community.
